CASE STUDY

Commodore Uriah P. Levy Jewish Chapel

This large chapel is dedicated to the Jewish faithful of the US Naval Academy and is named after the 1st Jewish Admiral to serve the US Navy. The entire chapel and the gathering rooms outside of the chapel are clad and paved in Jerusalem limestone, all quarried and fabricated in Israel.

The project consists of the main feature wall, which is a simulated “wailing wall.” We used an extensive amount of antiqued limestone mosaic tile on the floor, behind the arc, and to clad the inside surface of the dome.

This project has received extensive recognition for its design and craftsmanship and won the Marble Institute of America’s 2006 Pinnacle Award of Merit for institutional interior work.
