Crafted in the Rugo mosaic studio, this exquisite art glass mosaic is based on a classic painting of a 15th-century Byzantine icon. Rugo’s interpretation of this famous icon includes the Greek inscription which reads MP-ΘΥ (Μήτηρ Θεοῦ, Mother of God), this piece also contains the Archangels Michael and Gabriel at a tiny scale. The background mosaic is all 24-carat gold, especially hand-cut to 5mm sizes. This piece is truly unprecedented as our artist has crafted it using the Ravenna technique, which reveals the art with a grout-less surface, allowing for the true colors of the glass to present themselves in all their brilliance.
