CASE STUDY

Custom Marble Work
Venerable Cornelia Connelly Shrine

This small but highly artistic project was designed by our client St. Jude Studio, Mr. Louis R. DiCocco III, to honor the accomplishments of Sister Cornelia Connelly, the American-born foundress of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, a Roman Catholic religious institute.

Working with St. Jude Studio’s digital rendering, Rugo Stone created a full-scale clay model and a beautiful 3’ tall Bianco Carrara statue of the Holy Child Jesus. This statue is the centerpiece of the Venerable Cornelia Connelly Shrine located in the Basilica of St. Peter & Paul in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This elegant Shrine features raised hand-carved floral details, a small coat of arms for the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, an elegant canopy with book matched Giallo Siena wall panels and accents of Bardiglio marble. Rugo is very proud to have been selected by St. Jude to perform this spectacular Shrine in the great Basilica of Philadelphia.
